Freeform Pool with Sandy Beach Entry
Beside a cedar shingle beach house, this freeform pool features a boulder waterfall, a sandy beach entry, weathered timber decking, gravel paths, and surrounding beds of dune grass, pink roses, and blue hydrangeas.
Design notes
Coastal pools borrow the beach: pale decks of bleached ipe or composite, cable railings where levels change, white or sand-toned coping and plaster that reads sea-glass green. Look for dune grasses and hydrangeas at the edge, a shingled pool house, an outdoor shower and cabana curtains that move in the wind.
What to look for
- The coping — how the deck meets the water sets the whole tone
- Where the spa sits and how it spills into the pool
- Night lighting: which features glow and which stay dark
