Design notes
Mountain outdoor kitchens are heavy and warm. Look for stacked-stone or fieldstone bases, thick timber posts and beams, butcher-block or granite counters, a smoker and a wood-fired grill, a fireplace at one end and a view at the other. Dark steel, leather bar stools and lantern lighting suit the cabin mood.
What to look for
- The work triangle — grill, sink and fridge within a few steps
- Ventilation: a hood, an open gable or clear sky above the grill
- Where guests sit relative to the cook
