No. 33 Porches & Sunrooms · Modern
Concrete Front Porch with Wooden Bench
A small concrete stoop and front porch features a weathered wood bench, potted agave in terracotta planters, and a charcoal front door set against white stucco and warm timber cladding.
Design notes
Modern design is about restraint: clean geometry, a tight material palette and details that disappear into the architecture. Look for long straight edges, large-format paving, flush transitions between inside and out, and planting kept architectural — hedges, grasses and one or two specimen trees.
What to look for
- Depth — eight feet for chairs, ten or more for a table or a swing
- How the steps and railings meet the walk and the yard
- Ceiling: height, material and whether a fan or lights are built in
