Fire Bowls Bordering a Coastal Pool
At dusk, glowing fire bowls and pool lighting illuminate a stone-edged pool surrounded by dune grass, crushed shells, and a coastal cedar shingle beach house.
Design notes
Coastal pools borrow the beach: pale decks of bleached ipe or composite, cable railings where levels change, white or sand-toned coping and plaster that reads sea-glass green. Look for dune grasses and hydrangeas at the edge, a shingled pool house, an outdoor shower and cabana curtains that move in the wind.
What to look for
- The coping — how the deck meets the water sets the whole tone
- Where the spa sits and how it spills into the pool
- Night lighting: which features glow and which stay dark
