No. 76 Landscaping · Tudor

Sunken Brick Terrace with Linear Fountain

Herringbone red brick paving surrounds a linear water feature with a fountain, framed by boxwood hedges, stone retaining walls, and a Tudor residence displaying half-timbered facades, steep gables, and leaded glass windows.

Design notes

Tudor design answers the house. Look for half-timbered gables and tall chimneys echoed in dark timber pergolas and arbours, herringbone brick and flagstone terraces, low stone walls, and hedges of yew and box that give the garden formal rooms near the house before it loosens into roses, wisteria and lawn. Leaded glass, copper lanterns and a slightly storybook proportion keep the look coherent.

  • How hardscape and planting share the edges
